ST. IGNATIAN PRAYER
Mission
To introduce a deeper prayer life using an adaptation of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola to answer the question, "What does God want to do through me?"
About the Ministry
This is your call to holiness! St. Ignatius wanted to help people find God's will for them in their lives. He was convinced that anyone who was willing to take the time to be still, listen, and pray could experience God in a direct and immediate way. St. Ignatian Prayer offers a means to be grounded in daily prayer and connected to a faith community with shared value. Each session consists of prayerful daily scripture readings within a group that gathers to share their weekly prayer experience.

Christ's universal call to holiness:
"Be holy, as your Heavenly Father is holy" (Matthew 5:48).
Pope Francis, during a general audience in October, 2013, urged thousands of pilgrims gathered in St. Peter's Square to recognize that although everyone is a sinner, it is possible to be holy because of God's grace:
"Do not be afraid of holiness, do not be afraid to aim high, to be loved and purified by God, do not be afraid to let yourself be guided by the Holy Spirit."

Why practice the spiritual exercises?
St. Ignatius wanted to help people find God’s will for them in their lives. He was convinced that anyone who was willing to take the time to be still, listen and pray could experience God in a direct and immediate way. His own mission, his life work, became that of helping people experience God’s presence, and learning God’s will. In other words, he was himself a “spiritual director”, who, over many years of listening and helping people to pray and discern, developed over about a twenty year period, what we call his “Spiritual Exercises”. These were like a handbook with detailed directions on how to help people look at their lives, pray, take note of what was going on, and make decisions. They were meant to speak to the whole person—not just the intellect, so that God’s presence might be savored through all of the senses and in every human life experience. Ignatius strongly insisted that the Exercises be adapted to the particular life circumstances and unique dispositions of the persons making them.
