Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Who is for Confirmation designed for?
Confirmation is for high school teenagers who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation Prep is a two-year process. Confirmation is designed for ALL high school teenagers. Children who attend public school, Catholic school, private school, or home school are welcome! A child doesn't have to attend St. Bruno or be Catholic and they are still invited to be a part of our Confirmation preparation.
What is the difference between Year 1 and Year 2?
Year 1 is for high school teenagers in their first year of Confirmation preparation and/or high school teens who have not been baptized or received FHC.
Year 2 is for high school teenagers in their second year of Confirmation preparation.
How do I complete payment for Confirmation?
Registration fees are paid online only during the online registration process. During registration, you have two options: full payment or two payments. If you select the two payment option, half of the registration fee will be billed immediately and the second half will be automatically billed on September 30, 2019. Most debit and/or credit cards are acceptable forms of payment.
What's next after I register my high school teenager for Confirmation?
After you successfully complete registration, the teen who is registered for Confirmation and at least one parent will attend a mandatory Orientation in the Hall on Wednesday, September 4 at 6:00pm OR Thursday, September 5 at 7:00pm. Unfortunately, if you attempt to attend Orientation without prior completion of online registration, we will be unable to accommodate you until after you have completed registration.
When will I receive a schedule of meeting dates and times?
We are still finalizing the schedule for 2019-20 but you can plan on meetings taking place on one Tuesday or Thursday evening most months plus supplemental events on occasional Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Year 1 candidates must attend a required off-site weekend retreat on March 13, 14, 15, 2020. Year 2 Candidates must attend a required off-site weekend retreat on November 22, 23, 24, 2019. We will provide you with a full schedule customized specifically for your teen and your family for the entire year during Orientation.
Are there any other requirements for Confirmation?
In addition to attendance at required events, each candidate must complete at least 80 community service hours during their two years of preparation. We will provide many opportunities to accomplish these hours and we also encourage the teens to find creative ways on their own to serve their community. Additionally, Youth & Family Ministry has five Parent Nights throughout the year on Tuesday evenings. Parents are required to attend these nights.
When does registration close?
Registration closes on August 31, 2019 at 11:59pm unless we reach the capacity of teens we can safely accommodate before then.
